Hi all, let me introduce myself to you. I’m Andrew von Bibra, Myotherapist at Take Shape Health and Fitness.
Here’s a quick look at who I am:
I come from a sporting background in swimming, rowing, and judo. Competing at state levels in all of these and National level for judo. Running, and weight training has been for fun!
From the early 90’s I worked as a swimming teacher and coach and then as a personal trainer. After which I have been a small business owner in the area since the late 90’s In 2011 I enrolled in the MIMT course to become a Myotherapist., graduating in December 2013
Why did I do this ? After suffering some major injuries that were debilitating, and gaining the best help and pain relief from myotherapy techniques it was the natural progression to study this discipline. My angle on the type of treatment I provide is on returning the body to its best postural correctness to help reduce muscle pain, increase sports performance and to potentially reduce injuries (that one can put a dent in your training!).
What’s Myotherapy? Myotherapy is the assessment , treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, that may cause muscle pain and mobility issues. Musculoskeletal conditions may be caused from a variety of ways ranging from trauma, overload and misuse of muscles from work, hobbies or sporting activities.
Some of the musculoskeletal conditions, which I can help, are:
• Neck and back pain
• Chronic over use (RSI)
• Tennis elbow
• Joint pain
• Numbness and tingling
• Knee hip and ankle pain
• Shoulder pain
• Elbow and wrist pain
• Carpal tunnel
• TMJ pain
• General tightness
• And many more conditions
Postural and joint mobility assessment, and muscle testing is used to assess the problem. The list of tools below are utilized to help your body restore its -self ,back to good musculoskeletal health, which will help to reduce pain and gain mobility.
Some of the tools that I use to gain quality results are:
• Dry needling
• Trigger point therapy
• Myofacial release
• PNF Stretching
• Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
• Electro mechanical stimulations (TENS machine)
• Exercise rehab
• Static Stretching
• Hot and cold treatments
• Deep tissue massage
• And Nutritional guidance
If you would like to get the best from your muscles, come around and say hi.
